If your child is 4-years old on or before September 1 of the current school year, he or she may benefit greatly from the FREE Pre- K4 VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) program. The Pre-K4 VPK is a statewide program that encompasses a whole different level of learning. During a school year, children receive over 540 instructional hours to prepare for kindergarten.
Our VPK program focuses on building early literary skills, which include:
Also, our VPK level utilizes Creative Curriculum which contains strategies to ensure social/emotional development which fulfill the character development requirements of the School Readiness Program. The curriculum also includes an assessment in each subject that assists educators as well as parents with knowing what the next step toward development is on each individual child’s lesson plan.
Each year the Florida Department of Education/State Board of Education is required by law to calculate and set a minimum kindergarten readiness rate every year for each private or public VPK Provider, such as Suncoast Academy. The VPK Provider Readiness Rate measures how well a VPK school prepares 4 year-olds to be ready for kindergarten based on the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards for Four-Year Olds. These standards describe what this age group should know and be able to do by the end of the VPK program. Suncoast Academy is proud to have received a 100 Readiness Rating as a VPK Provider, the highest rating a provider is eligible to receive.
